TRASH MAG’s 2022 Holiday Gift Guide — Part 2

This Is Me Trying

Having friends with chronic illnesses, who struggle with their mental health, or who are just ~going through it~ is pretty common. I get it. You want to give them holiday gifts they’ll actually use. These are the gifts we think your friends who relate to “this is me trying” by Taylor Swift will appreciate.

  1. Weighted Blanket
If you can’t get out of bed, might as well be as comfy as you can. These are also great for relieving anxiety!

  2. Laptop Tray
Perfect for working from bed or watching a favorite comfort show.

  3. Shower Phone Holder
It just makes showering a bit more motivating when you can watch TikToks at the same time.

  4. Snack Basket
To have ready to go on their nightstand. You can put it together yourself or buy a premade one like this:

  5. UberEats Gift Card
For when grocery shopping just uses too many spoons.

The One Who Is A… DIY Queen/Art Hoe

Does your friend make their own clothes? What about DIY all of their home decor? Have they sent you videos of people tiling their side tables? These are the ideal gifts for the crafty one.

  1. Stella Harvey Crochet
Gifts from local businesses and small businesses are the best.

  2. BugGirl200 Products
Previously featured on TRASH MAG, your DIY pal will appreciate the comedy in these products.

  3. Disco Ball Plant Holder
Even though they may say “I could’ve made this myself,” it’s still pretty and they’ll appreciate it (and wouldn’t they say this about any gift?).

  4. Personalized Apron
So they don’t ruin their clothes when crafting and look cute doing it.

The One Who…  Says They Don't Want Anything

There’s always at least one. The problem is, you still want to gift them something, you just have to figure out what that is.

  1. Donation In Their Name To Charity
If they say they don’t want anything, then they will appreciate you putting your money in their name towards a good cause. In fact, try to match up the cause with something they’re passionate about.

  2. ClassPass Gift Card
ClassPass is bringing us into 2023, that’s for sure. Even if your friend has a gym membership, or if they’ve never stepped foot in one, ClassPass gift cards can be used at any workout classes, yoga classes, massages, facials, and more. They’ll find a good use for this.

  3. Comedy Show Tickets
Check with their mom, partner, or roommate and make sure their calendar is free, and then get the comedy show tickets to see their favorite comedian in person. If you can’t guarantee a free calendar day, print out a fun graphic of the show and plan a fun day to go together.

  4. A Nice Dinner
Gifts don’t have to be elaborate. Sometimes, people say they don’t want any gifts because they have too much clutter in their homes. This is where experience gifts come in. Hop on Canva (thank God for Canva), use a fun invitation template, and plan a fun night out to dinner together. Pay for the dinner as their gift — you insist.

  5. Sentimental Photo Album
If you’re close to this person, it’s appropriate to make a nice scrapbook/photo album of your best memories together. They’re guaranteed to love it.
